AUSTIN M. RAUSCH
is an interdisciplinary theatre artist: costume designer, director, actor, and scholar working from the conviction that theatre-making is one continuous act of communication, each discipline informing and strengthening the others. He is an award-winning educator and national grant recipient, currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Purdue University Fort Wayne.
Austin holds an MFA in Costume Design from The Pennsylvania State University and a BFA in Theatre from St. Edward's University. Costume design credits include Sierra Repertory Theatre, Bigfork Summer Playhouse, and the Los Angeles Opera's world premiere of Eurydice with director Mary Zimmerman and playwright Sarah Ruhl. Directing work includes Black Snow and an original stage adaptation of Karel Čapek's Rossum’s Universal Robots, supported by the ATHE Development of a Creative Work Grant. This work is strengthened by peer-reviewed research on creativity, fear, gamification and UDL, and AI ethics in the arts.
